Our submissions guidelines:
We're looking for novel length (50,000-80,000 words) submissions to fill out our 2009 release schedule.
What we want:
Horror, crime, bizarro, and dark fiction that pushes the boundaries while still adhering to the tenets of great writing. We like violence, sex, and sleaze, but we also like great characters, plot development, and original voice. Experimental pieces are perfectly fine, but please master the basics before trying to reinvent the written word.
Collections and poetry are fine, but both will be a hard sell.
Explicit, graphic, and otherwise horrid content is wholeheartedly encouraged, but it needs to work within a great story. Don't just shock us, impress us.
What we don't want:
Zombies, vampires, ghosts, werewolves, hobgoblins, wood elves or any other assortment of mythological creatures. There are plenty of markets for those stories; we're just not one of them.
We also don't want reprints, serials, or short stories (Future anthologies remain a possibility, but we're currently not open to short story submissions.).
Submission guidelines:
Please submit all manuscripts as a .doc or .rtf document, double spaced, in a reasonable font and size. Also include a brief synopsis in the email and any relevant bio information.
Payment/Rights:
All books are published as trade paperbacks, with full returnability, and discounts for stores.
We pay a modest advance ($200-$500) against 10 percent royalties, as well as contributor copies and additional copies at a 50 percent discount.
Snuff Books asks for exclusive English language print rights for three years from the time of publication. All subsidiary rights remain with the author.
E-mail adam@snuffbooks.com with questions/submissions.
